An introduction to Villa Artemis

Perched on the side of the small hill overlooking Almeritha Bay and just a five-minute stroll up from the beach stand the Villas Artemis: two beautifully situated villas enjoying panoramic views of the sea and of Almeritha. On the top floor of the newest villa is a three-bedroom penthouse, Artemis 3, with a spectacular sea view which can be enjoyed both from the picture windows and the balcony. This penthouse is so popular that we were delighted when Yiannis, the owner, completed another three-bedroom apartment, Artemis 4, below it. Artemis 4's first guests loved the situation and the view across the garden and bay from the balcony. Next door is the house Yiannis built first and where he still lives with his family on the middle floor.

Above his home is a lovely two-bedroom penthouse, Artemis 2, with superb views in all directions and on the ground floor is a one-bedroom apartment, Artemis 1, whose patio is 15m through the olive grove in front of the villa and overlooks Almeritha on one side and the pretty fishing harbour on the other.

Artemis has become an old favourite with our guests and the original villa is now one of our most long-standing properties - which is no surprise to us as the position is so superb. The views are magnificent and yet the amenities of Almeritha are only a very short walk away - perfect for being able to relax in peace without foregoing the undisputed pleasures of the sandy beach, the shallow sea and the excellent waterfront tavernas. Almeritha has a couple of shops selling groceries and essentials for the beach and the village now boasts its own 'periptero', the ubiquitous street kiosk packed with an astonishing range of articles. Inland from Almeritha is the lovely unspoilt region known as the Apokoronas, one of the prettiest and greenest parts of Crete. This area has lots to offer, from traditional coffee houses to unspolit rural villages for those who wish to explore their surroundings further.
