Elafonisi Sea View

The way to Elafonisi Lagoon is lined with tiny traditional villages which tourists rarely visit. It's a long journey and the area is sparsely populated because of the wild and dramatic scenery and distance from the main towns in the north. An advantage to us, of course, if looking for a villa with character and style, stunning views and a real get-away-from-it-all atmosphere. Overlooking Livadia Bay, the setting could not be more perfect to appreciate the quieter and more traditional side to Crete. The Elafonisi Lagoon is 20 minutes away by car. The beautiful white, sandy beach meets the water with a pearly pink fringe from the coral. A shelf of water only knee deep separates the beach from the Elafonisi Islet with its sand dunes and semi-secluded coves - a truly breathtaking sight.

The villa itself is one of two set on a hill, and enjoys wonderful views of the sea and surrounding countryside - verdant in the spring, scorched bright yellow in the heat of the summer. The sea is a 10 minute walk away, an easy stroll to the rocky shoreline where you can explore the marine life in the rock pools. Alternatively, the private pool provides refreshing relief from the midday heat, as does the shade of the parasols and covered terrace. The open plan kitchen and living-dining room is furnished with solid wooden and wicker furniture creating a homely and welcoming atmosphere. Also, it is only a two minute walk to the nearest mini-market to stock up on groceries.
